District Attorney

Mission Statement

To carry out the responsibilities and duties of the District Attorney as outlined in State Statutes to enforce the law.

The District Attorney, a constitutionally mandated office that is filled by election every four years, heads the department. Until the late 1980s, all staff within the District Attorney's Office were county employees. Through legislative changes, the District Attorney and Assistant District Attorneys are all state employees. The support staff remains as county employees.

The District Attorney enforces, through prosecution, the criminal laws of the state of Wisconsin within Oconto County. In addition, laws are enforced relating to children and delinquency as well as a variety of civil offenses including conservation, boating, and traffic.
