General Information
The Oconto County Courthouse has two Circuit Court Branches and a Family Court Hearing room. It is the duty of the Security Deputies to monitor the activity of these three court rooms, the hallways and offices that support them, as well as protect all court personnel, employees, and citizens.
They are to investigate any safety concerns, suspicious activity, or law violations, and take the appropriate action necessary to resolve the situation. They also enforce any rules the court has established, in an effort to maintain order in the court rooms.
The Security Deputies arrange for inmates to be at their appointed court hearings in a timely manner. They guard and protect the inmate in criminal cases, prevent escape, and escorts inmates to their bond hearings. They also makes arrangements for additional personnel and security for all criminal trials.
The Security Deputy also makes recommendations for increased security, equipment, or repairs, and files a quarterly report with the Court Security/ Facilities Committee of Oconto County.
