- You must be a United States Citizen
- You must be a resident of Oconto County
- You must be at least 18 years of age
- You have not been summoned for jury duty for at least four years
- You must understand the English language
Questionnaire
The Juror Qualification Questionnaire is the first step in the process of selecting jurors to serve on trials. It is not a summons to appear for jury duty, but only a questionnaire as required by Ch. 756, Wis. Statutes to determine your eligibility to serve as a juror. If you have received a Juror Qualification Questionnaire, you may complete the questionnaire online. Please note you will have to refer to the paper Juror Qualification Questionnaire for your Juror ID number.
Summons
Throughout the calendar year, as jury trials are scheduled, jurors will be sent a Summons to serve on jury duty. Summons are mailed to randomly-selected jurors approximately two weeks before the jury service date(s) as shown on the summons. Oconto County uses a voicemail recording system to inform jurors when they are to report for jury duty. You must call 920-834-7140 after 4:30 p.m. the business day before you are summoned for jury duty to determine if the trial is still on. If the recording states the trial is ON, you are to report for jury duty on the date you were summoned. If when you call the recording states the trial is OFF, you do not need to report for jury duty on the date you were summoned. Wisconsin law limits you to no more than 5 days of service, unless you are selected to serve on a trial that will last longer. You are exempt from jury duty for 4 years after your month of service.
